Tikeya Art Residency Open Call
5th ROUND
We are pleased to announce the opening call for participation
in the fourth and fifth rounds of Tikeya Art Residency in Egypt.
Tikeya is attempting to reunite with the Caravan Heritage in the Arab world. This Heritage imposed multiculturalism, networking and mutual interactions through travelling and touring. And just as it happened in the time of the old caravans, the Tikeya project will travel from one place to another and link multiple elements and networks based on friendly acquaintance with cultural and artistic actors and figures in Alexandria, Cairo and Siwa Oasis away from the direct official meetings. It will provide coexistence with the local culture. So, it is not a touristic program but focuses on starting contact and cooperation between participants.

Who can Apply
Tikeya is mainly targeting participants from Europe, America and Canada. This initiative is oriented toward those who are creative in various fields, such as Artists, Writers, Musicians, Cultural Researchers, Media Artists, Art Researchers, Performing Artists, Engineers, Urban Planners and Architects.
Residency Program

Tours in various residential areas.

Visiting, meetings, networking and acquaintance: visits the various institutions, galleries, spaces and art studios in Cairo, Alexandria and Siwa Oasis.

Final presentation: At the end of the residency, as an end project, it is preferable to present the participant’s experience, whether in a presentation or an exhibition in one of the spaces they networked with during the residency. It could be an artwork, individually or collectively, through multiple disciplines and different tools. Furthermore, realizing an art book reflects Egypt's contemporary social and cultural scene.
